The Uniform

Planning your outfits at night is smart. Having a personal style uniform is genius! For the sake of your sanity in the mornings; it’s time you considered creating your very own uniform.

This isn’t your grade school uniform; this is a simple wardrobe formula to help you get ready and out the door in no time.

Sometimes in the morning fretting over an outfit just isn’t in the cards for me. On days like this I reach for my uniform. It contains 4 simple pieces: 1) a shift or midi dress 2) blazer 3) booties 4) handbag – and I’m out the door. That’s it!

How to create your uniform:

Know yourself– I’m not suggesting throwing just throwing on the first thing you see in your closet. Knowing what looks good on your body and makes you feel good is essential. I’m not suggesting that you randomly throw on the first thing you see in your closet. Take me for example: I love my legs and I’m not afraid to show them off. You’re likely to see my in a dress/skirt on most days; but when I’m short on time my uniform is my look of choice.

Versatility– Choose a look that can be worn in a variety of settings. This will allow you maximize your use of your uniform. Your uniform should take you from work, to drinks or dinner after work or Sunday brunch.

Stock up– Once you nail down your personal uniform stock up on similar items used in this look. You will then begin to create a wardrobe filled with pieces that you will wear often and look great wearing. Eventually your wardrobe dilemmas will rid themselves.

I know I’m not the first person to devise this concept; but I’m all about sharing nuggets of wisdom. I want to hear from you! What does your personal style uniform look like?
