Cold Shoulder: DIY Off the Shoulder Sweater

image

It’s never too cold to show a little shoulder. Anyone that knows me knows that I love repurposing clothing. Rummaging through my sweater drawer, I noticed that I had several sweaters that I no longer wear. They somehow lost their appeal. I thought to myself “what can I do with my vintage gold sparkly turtleneck knit sweater”? The wheels began to turn, and then I thought to myself “what can’t I do with this sweater”?! I wanted to attempt to create something that I hadn’t already made. I immediately thought about making a cozy off the shoulder sweater. You won’t believe how incredibly easy it was to do!

I bet you’re going to want to try it after learning how simple it is šŸ™‚

Materials needed: old sweater, scissors, fabric glue, needle and thread

Instructions:

  1. Lay sweater flat and cut the neck of the sweater on both the left and right sides until you reach the shoulder. The lower you cut down the hem will determine how much skin you end up showing.
  2. Fold the cut fabric inside the sweater to give yourself a visual of what your end product will resemble.
  3. Next, either use a glue gun or sew the cut fabric to the inside hem of the sweater. Tip: I suggest sewing it for repeated use because the glue may not adhere to the fabric depending on how bulky your sweater is.
  4. Now, wasn’t that easy? This is truly a foolproof project. Pair with jeans and heels and you have yourself a insta-chic ‘fit.
